In 2006, the School of Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Tuina was founded successively out of previous Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Tuina Department. The school is well established in two majors: Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Tuina (for 3-year, 5-year & 7-year schooling) and Science of Rehabilitative Treatment. Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Tuina has been appraised the key discipline of Hunan Province. It has been entitled the key subject by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the authorization ofgranting doctoral and master’s degree.
All the staff members are responsible, getting outstanding teaching effects and students’ high praise. Presently it has 30 faculty members, including 4 supervisors of doctorial programs, 12 supervisors of master’s programs, 9 with doctorate and 10 with master’s degree.
During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan Period, the school has undertaken altogether 73 research projects. Up till now, the funds for scientific research have exceeded six million RMB yuan. 33 provincial and national prized have been won. More than 100 papers have been published in journals on the state or provincial level. It has also participated in the compilation of many state-planed course books.
Acupuncture, moxibustion and Tuinaplaysthe leading role in the process of Traditional Chinese Medicine getting known to the world, especially on the aspects of international cooperation and foreign exchanges. The School, as the window of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine to the world, plays a more and more significant role. In recent years, many teachers in this school have been sent to countries such as US, Italy, Australia, Russia, Japan, Cuba, Indonesia, Malaysia and so on to make academic exchanges, achieving great success.
